To My Child, Thank You For Saving My Life

You’re too young to understand how much you mean to me. Don’t worry one day you will when you question where my mom is.

You don’t know this. But you saved my life by just being born.

The truth is I don’t know where I would be without you.

Your smile brightens up my day.

Whenever you smile at me, I snap out of my funk. It helps me get through my darkest days. Look, I know it may not seem like it some days, but you really do.

Your hugs warms up the darkest in my heart.

Every time you hug me, I feel as if all my worries and cloudy thoughts disappear into the misty cloud. I have always hugged you tight when you’re upset. Now that you’re older and understand feelings, you do the same when I am.

Your laugh fills in all the missing pieces in my heart.

On days I just miss my mom, I hear your giggle and instead, my heart feels joy again. I then remember I may not have my mom, but I have you and that’s all that matters because you are the light of my world.

When you say “I love you, mommy,” it’s more like music to my broken heart.

Your little voice saying those four words is truly the most warming thing I want and need to hear on the days I’m drowning without my mom. It’s like they remind me of how much I still have on Earth and I snap back.

Your little kiss wipes away all the tears building up in my mind and heart.

Just one little kiss on the cheek from your tiny lips helps me more than you understand right now. You think it’s only to show me that you love me. But the truth is, your kisses are so much more to me.

I can’t wait to share with you how important you truly are to me. I can’t wait until understand you can truly understand the meaning of my sadness.

Thank you for just being born and helping me get through these dark days with my mom.

I love you to the end of the Milky Way and back!
